Tragedy as newly wedded couple perish in fatal motor accident along Jalingo – Gembu Road

Not fewer than five people, including a newly married couple lost their lives in a fatal motor accident along Jalingo – Gembu Road in Taraba State.

The accident which occurred near Mayo-Kam village of Bali local government area of the state on Tuesday afternoon involved an eighteen seater passenger bus belonging to Kakara Motors, which was traveling from Gembu, Sardauna local government area to Jalingo, the state capital.

An eye witness told Neptune Prime correspondent that the driver lost control as a result of potholes and the vehicle crashed into a nearby bush.

Among those who died were newly married couple Mustapha Abubakar, son of Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Sardauna local government Alhaji Abubakar Usman Kawu and his wife Munirat Mazad.

He said the couple were wedded in December, 2021.

Also killed in the accident were Hauwa Sadeeq, a local popular actress in Jalingo and Aisha Isa Modibbo, a student.

Motorists and their passengers were seen at the scene of the accident evacuating dead bodies and the injured ones to hospital in Jalingo. The corpses were buried in Jalingo main cemetery Wednesday morning.

When contacted, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) of Taraba State Police Command DSP Usman Abdullahi told our correspondent that the command is yet to officially receive signal on the accident from Bali Divisional Office.
