Nasarawa Assembly adjourns for party primaries

Members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Tuesday resumed after the Ramadan and the Eid-el-Fitri holiday and proceeded for another break ahead of party primaries.
The Speaker of the House, Rt.Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, announced this after the House Leader, Hon. Umar Tanko Tunga ( APC- Awe North) moved a motion to that effect which was seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Abel Yakubu Bala ( PDP- Nassarawa Eggon West).

“Honourable members, we are just returning from Eid-el- Fitri, I want to congratulate our Muslim brothers and those from the other faith.
“I hope we prayed during the fasting for God to solve our problems, especially the challenges of insecurity facing the country.
“I hope members prayed fervently for our leaders, all Nigerians and ourselves. May Allah Almighty in his infinite mercy accept our prayers (Amen).
“Honourable members, we are all aware that this is an election year and in a couple of days, various political parties, especially those that have representatives in this House, APC, PDP and ZLP will commence primary elections.
“It is on this note that after today’s sitting, members will be given the opportunity to go for preparations for their primary elections and I wish us all success.
“I believe members have done their best to their people and I wish you will come back.
“After today’s sitting, we will go for our primary elections and resume after the exercise,” the Speaker said.
Earlier, Hon. Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion to that effect.
“Mr Speaker, honourable colleagues, I want to move a motion that this House stands Adjourn Sine-die until when necessary,” Tunga said.
