The 2021/22 football season in major European leagues rounded up last Sunday, May 22, 2022 with players receiving awards for having most goals scored in their respective leagues.

The English Premier League (EPL) had two players awarded with the Golden Boot – Egypt international and Liverpool striker, Mohammed Salah received his boot after scoring 23 goals and 13 assists, the 29-year-old also received the Premier League Football Association (PFA) award.
South Korean star and Tottenham Hotspur’s forward, Son Heung-min, for the first time since joining the EPL in 2015 was awarded with the golden boot having scored 23 goals and 7 assists in 35 appearances for Spurs.
French star, Karim Benzema who is seeking his fifth UEFA Champions League silverware is not left out of the park of Europe’s top scorers. The 34-year-old centre-forward found the back of the net for Real Madrid 27 time in 12 assists.
Elsewhere, the fifth consecutive season, Robert Lewandowski finishes as the Bundesliga’s top goalscorer in Germany. The Bayern Munich striker recorded 35 goals in 34 appearances during the 2021/22 campaign to lead the way in the league in terms of goals scored. Lewandowski finished 11 goals ahead of Patrik Schick, who scored 24 goals in 27 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen.
Kylian Mbappé who nearly sparked controversies for weeks in the media regarding his future at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) was among Europe’s finest top scorers. Mbappé who later announced he will remain at PSG for the next three seasons had 27 goals and 17 assists for the Ligue 1 giants.
Serie A had it top scorer, Lazio’s Ciro Immobile, with 27 goals with just two assists after 31 matches played.
