Story from Saleh INUWA

A Chibok school girl, Ruth Bitrus, that was rescued by troops of Operations Hadin Kai from Boko Haram captivity said her next plan is to go back to school and complete her education.

She said, “I left the place at night alone and walked for days, on the fourth day I saw some military men, and told them I was from Chibok and asked them to take me to my parents, but they said they’d bring me here, to Maiduguri. I escaped in the early hours of the morning, I was 19 when I was taken. The husband I was forced to marry was killed by a bomb.

Theatre Commander of Operations Hadin Kai, Major General GC Musa, who spoke about the rescue in Maimalarin Barracks during the official handing over of medical equipment by the North-East Development Commission to support the military on Wednesday said the military would intensify efforts to rescue all the girls captured by the terrorists.

“You would recall that some weeks ago, we rescued two Chibok girls and their children, I will like to inform you that we have rescued another in the course of our operations.

“We will not rest until Leah Sharibu and other Chibok girls are returned and united with their families. We won’t rest until all of them are safely returned. Ruth Bitrus was rescued from Sambisa forest with her son. He said.

It would be recalled that some days ago, the troops had rescued two Chibok girls, Mary Dauda and Hauwa Joseph after they escaped from Boko Haram camp in Gazuwa, located about 9 kilometres to Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
