APC senatorial candidate dies in Chinese hospital

The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Jigawa South West Senatorial District, Honourable Tijjani Ibrahim, is dead.

He died on Saturday, August 13 in a Chinese hospital.

Ibrahim, a former member of the House of Representatives was said to have been admitted to an Abuja hospital for treatment of a lung infection from where he was flown to China for further treatment when his condition deteriorated.

Ibrahim died barely three months after he won the APC senatorial ticket for his zone where he polled 361 votes.

Confirming the report, the Governor of Jigawa State, Muhammad Badaru, in a condolence message through his media aide, Habibu Kila, said Mr Ibrahim’s death “is a great loss not only to his family but to the Muslim Ummah”.

Governor Badaru in the statement described Mr Ibrahim as “a loyal and dependable politician who contributed immensely to the political development of the country.”

He also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Late Ibrahim politician represented Dutse/Kiyawa federal constituency in the House of Representatives between 2011 to 2015.
