Suspending Safiya Yusuf (Safara’u) from Kannywood is wicked and uncalled for – Rahama Sadau

Kannywood film director, Rahama Ibrahim Sadau, has described as wicked and uncalled for, the suspension slammed on Safiya Yusuf (Safara’u – Kwana Casa’in) and her friend Mr. 442 because, according to her, if one is inflicted with a virus, you don’t cut the part and throw it away, rather, you look for proper treatment and heal it.
Rahama in a statement in Kaduna noted that all artists practising in the North are under the umbrella of the Motion Picture Practitioners’ Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) and with Kannywood as a branch, the associations have leaders that are supposed to police its affairs but this is not the case, their members used to be suspended or expelled at will without proper reasons or excuses.
“I was suspended or even expelled in the past and up to the time I was suspended, I didn’t know those that suspended me, but on the advice of those I respect, I even went on air to apologize to the Emir of Kano and Kano State Government, and what was my offence, I was accused of kissing a male artist in a hip-hop video, people should know that the world is developing and things are changing to modernity”.

The Mass Communication HND holder from Kaduna Polytechnic joined Kannywood over 10 years ago with a debut film “Gani Ga Wane” that was produced by Ali Nuhu who also featured in the film alongside Rahama Sadau and since then, Ali is her godfather in Kannywood, by maintaining a very close relationship with her before they fall out due to her series of controversies, similarly, at several instances, Rahama falls out with many of her colleagues, she later took a break from Kannywood to honour invitation from famous singers in Hollywood.
Recently, she was in the news again when she rejected a nomination from the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Group, those who nominated her felt bad and described her as not only arrogant but as an ingrate, she swiftly insisted that she is not supporting any presidential aspirant because she is too busy with her film project “Matan Aure”.
It could be recalled that Safiya Yusuf and her group were recently suspended and declared wanted by Kano State Films and Censorship Board for releasing songs that did not pass the vetting of stakeholders in the industry, not only that, Safara’s naked video recently appeared in the social media with has embarrassed the industry and her family.
But Rahama Sadau insisted that after watching Safiya’s apology on social media, she felt bad for her and advised Kannywood Stakeholders to bring her closer and console her instead of declaring her wanted because this will cause more damage to her image, Sadau is currently featuring in several films in India because she speaks their language.
