Adamawa Assembly suspends 2 lawmakers over defection
Story from Abdulaziz JAURO, Yola
The Adamawa State House of Assembly has suspended the members representing Song and Jada Mbulo constituencies, Honourable Simon Isa and Honourable Hamman Tukur Yettisuri, for 3 months.
NEWS PLATFORM reports that Honourable Simon and Yettisuri were suspended over allegations of defecting to the New Nigeria Peoples Party(NNPP).
Their suspension followed a constitutional matter raised by the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Pwamwakeno Mackondo representing Numan, who informed the Assembly about the defection.
He said that both legislators were elected under the platform of the PDP but cross-carpeted to other political parties, saying that their seats ought to be declared vacant based on the provision of the Constitution.
He said that their names appeared as candidates for Fufore/Song and Mayo Belwa, Jada, Ganye and Toungo Federal Constituencies under NNPP.
Announcing the suspension, the Speaker, Rt. Honourable Aminu Iya Abbas suspended the lawmakers for 3 months pending when they will formalise their defection.
