ESN operatives kill 2 Ebubeagu counterparts during encounter in Ebonyi

At least two members of the Ebubeagu security outfit have been shot dead by suspected Eastern Security Network (ESN) gunmen as both sides clashed in Abakilike, the Ebony State capital.

Reports gathered that the incident, which happened around 9.30 pm on Friday, caused palpable fears among indigenes of the state as many were seen scampering for safety.

The victims were taken to the Alex Ekuweme Federal Teaching hospital, Abakaliki, FETHA 2, and before they could get there, two of the victims died while others with bullet injuries were receiving treatment at press time.

“Everybody around the location of the incident went inside their houses for fear of becoming victims,” a source said.

The shooting of the Ebubeagu Security operatives was said to have taken place a few metres away from the Police Headquarters and the Old Government House, Abakaliki.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Chris Anyanwu, confirmed the development.
