Oyo State launches mobile app to revolutionize waste management

Oyo State has introduced a mobile application to enhance waste management and monitoring in the region, as announced by the management of Oyo State Waste Management Consultant, Mottainai Recycling in Ibadan.

The Chief Strategy Officer, Ms. Uloma Airhienbuwa, stated that this initiative aims to simplify waste management in the state by providing an easy-to-use application for tracking the movement and management of hazardous and solid wastes.

The waste management app is compatible with all smart devices and has been designed with user convenience and sustainability in mind. It offers various key features to facilitate waste and recycling pickup requests, ensuring transparency and clarity throughout the process.

Users can easily determine when their waste will be collected and by whom, as well as make payments for waste services through the app.

Additionally, the app incorporates a fun and transparent approach to incentivise waste sorting.

Ms. Airhienbuwa explained that users can earn points based on the accuracy of their waste sorting and responsible disposal practices. These points can be redeemed for rewards such as discounts on waste management services or donations to a charity of the user’s choice.

The user-friendly interface of the app allows waste generators to navigate and make pickup requests with just a few taps. Users can specify the type of waste, quantity, and preferred pickup date and time, enabling efficient scheduling and coordination between Mottainai and users.

Moreover, the app utilizes GPS technology to help users locate their specific waste pickup location, further streamlining the process.

Ms. Airhienbuwa emphasized that continuous development of the app is underway to provide users with a seamless experience for pickup requests, progress tracking, payments, and rewards.

Overall, the introduction of this waste management app in Oyo State is a significant step towards improving waste management practices, promoting responsible waste disposal, and enhancing the overall cleanliness and sustainability of the state.
