Victorious Victor Osimhen becomes first African to win Serie A Golden Boot
Nigeria international and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has become the first African footballer to win the the Serie A Golden Boot prize after scoring the highest number of goals in the 2022/23 season.

The Napoli striker scored a record 26 goals in 32 league matches for the Naples to win the “Capocannoniere” prize.
Osimhen scored the 26th goal on Sunday evening during the match against Sampdoria via a spot kick to edge his closest rival Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez.
His goals helped Napoli to clinch their Serie A title after three decades.
The 24-year-old is not only the first African to be named Capocannoniere in the 125-year history of Italian football he eclipses his childhood hero George Weah as the highest scoring African player of all time in Serie A.
