Hadiza Gabon’s talk show sparks controversy with ‘unprofessional’ remarks

Nigerian actress Hadiza Aliyu, popularly known as Hadiza Gabon, has sparked a social media frenzy with her recent talk show, causing people to comment on what they perceive as ‘unprofessional’ remarks made during the show.
Hadiza Gabon, a renowned figure in the Kannywood industry, is gradually expanding her repertoire from acting to hosting her now-famous talk show, Gabon’s Room Talk Show.
Recently, the actress found herself in court after being sued by a civil servant named Bala Musa, who claimed she refused to marry him despite him spending N396,000 on her. However, Hadiza denied the allegations.
The show, titled “Dandalin Hadiza Gabon,” debuted on September 19, 2022, with Hadiza Gabon engaging in conversations with guests such as Sa’adatu Lawan and popular Kannywood singer Daudau Kahutu Rarara.
During her discussion with Rarara, she questioned him about his relationship with his former friend, Abdul Amart Maikwashewa, whom he claimed was his protégé. However, Abdul Amart appeared on the show and refuted Rarara’s claim, asserting that he had been the producer from the very beginning, financing the project with his own money.
It was previously reported how web series movies have been gradually gaining prominence in the Hausa film industry, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the closure of cinemas worldwide, leading to a surge in online movie streaming.
While many Kannywood producers are transitioning to web series, Hadiza Gabon has chosen to venture into hosting a talk show.
The episode that sparked a flurry of comments from viewers was the one featuring musician El-mu’az Birniwa. During the conversation, Hadiza Gabon asked him about his colleague Hannatu Bashir, stating, “Everyone knows she is your girlfriend.”
Visibly angered, Birniwa responded, “No, unless you want them to know now. If everyone is already aware, then I don’t see the need to discuss it here.” Later in the interview, Birniwa expressed his regret for accepting the invitation, stating that had he known such questions would be asked, he would have declined.
Towards the end of the conversation, Birniwa seemingly sought revenge and acknowledged the actress’s well-known philanthropic endeavors, but questioned, “Where do you get your money from?”
In response, Hadiza Gabon stated that she has various side businesses which have been blessed by Allah. When pressed further to reveal the nature of these businesses, she mentioned fashion design, acting, and her own company.
Unsatisfied with her answers, Birniwa persisted, asserting that her presence in the industry has diminished and that he knows her shop in Kaduna. He believed people should be aware of her other business ventures related to the mentioned company.
