Nigerian Military stronger under democracy, DHQ affirms
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has emphasized that any call for the military’s involvement in the nation’s democracy is both unpatriotic and malicious.
Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information, stated in a release on Friday in Abuja that this attempt by unpatriotic elements aims to divert the military from its constitutional duties.
Gusau expressed the DHQ’s concern regarding the circulating online reports about welfare concerns within the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
He pointed out that the military’s leadership is committed to prioritizing the well-being of its personnel and will continue to do so.

He asserted, “The military hierarchy vehemently opposes any effort by individuals or groups to incite law-abiding military personnel into participating in any unconstitutional governmental changes within the country.”
Gusau firmly stated that the military finds contentment and improvement under democracy, asserting that it will not engage in any activities that could jeopardize the hard-won democratic system in the nation.
He confirmed that under the guidance of Gen. Christopher Musa, the armed forces are dedicated to their complete allegiance to constitutional authority, as established by President Bola Tinubu.
He concluded, “We are resolute in our commitment to these responsibilities, which are clearly outlined in the 1999 constitution (as amended).”
