Kogi tricycle rider commits suicide inside river
In a heartbreaking turn of events, a man, whose identity remains unknown, has taken his own life in Kogi State. The incident occurred around 12:30 pm on Tuesday near Meme Bridge, just a short distance from the renowned Dunamis Church in Lokoja.
Eyewitnesses report that the deceased, who worked as a tricycle rider, arrived at the bridge, parked his tricycle, and tragically leaped into the river below. Shockingly, despite the presence of onlookers, no one was able to intervene in time to save him.
One anonymous witness shared their helplessness in the face of this desperate act. “When the Keke Man jumped into the river, there was nothing anybody could do. We spotted a snake upon his fall, and in that moment, there was no opportunity to intervene,” they expressed with a heavy heart.

As of now, the authorities are yet to recover the man’s body. SP William Ovye Aya, the Public Relations Officer for the Kogi State Police Command, confirmed the incident and assured the public that efforts are underway to locate and retrieve the deceased.
“We are still gathering information regarding this tragic incident. Our officers have been mobilized to recover the body. Once we have more information, our unit will issue a statement, sharing further details about this saddening event,” SP Aya shared.
