Why you should avoid checking your spouse’s phone – Kwankwaso

Former Governor of Kano State and NNPP presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has advised newly married couples during the Kano Mass Wedding to avoid checking their spouses’ phones to prevent marital issues.

The NNPP national leader offered the valuable advise to over 1,800 couples participating in the Kano mass wedding during a reception organised by the State Government at the Open Theatre in Kano Government House on Saturday.

Kwankwaso emphasised that checking phones had become a significant cause of marital discord.

He stated, “You have been advised by all and sundry. I believe you have been advised a thousand times. Ulamas, parents, relatives, and even business people have advised you on how to live peacefully with one another.

“But, I have one single advice for you; that is checking spouses’ phones. Don’t peep your spouses’ phones as that is the major cause of marriage breakup these days.”

Kwankwaso praised Governor Abba Yusuf’s dedication to the mass wedding initiative and commended the administration’s support for students. He encouraged the people of Kano state to back the governor’s efforts.

Governor Abba Yusuf disclosed that the mass wedding couples were selected from all 44 local government areas and 484 wards in the state, with each local government having at least 30 couples. The state government covered all marriage expenses, including dowries, furniture, wedding food supplies, and a grant of N20,000 for the brides to start small businesses in their homes.

Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, the Commander General of Kano Hisbah Board, noted that 1,500 couples had already tied the knot, but 264 couples had their weddings suspended due to health issues, which were being treated.

He praised the government for the transparent process and urged the couples to adhere to Islamic teachings in their married life.
