Bandits abduct Zamfara district head, 5 others
In a distressing incident, bandits targeted Ruwan Rana, Zamfara, abducting District Head Magaji Makau and five prominent individuals, with one person losing their life during the attack on Saturday morning. The security forces are mobilizing efforts for their rescue as the community remains in shock.
An indigene of the area, Muhammad Musa, told journalists that, the bandits who rode motorcycles entered Ruwan Rana town in the early hours of Saturday.
Musa said the bandits, who arrived in the town around 3am began shooting sporadically and later went from house to house where they abducted the district head and five other prominent persons.

He also explained that they killed one person who refused to be abducted.
He said, “We heard gunshots around 3am and everybody went into hiding because we knew that the bandits were there for abduction.
“They went from house to house and abducted five people including our district head, shot down one person, and later returned to the forest.
“I was not aware of those abducted until in the morning when I came out to hear that, the district head, Alhaji Makau was among the victims.”
A member of the state House of Assembly representing the area, Hon Hamisu Faru, expressed disgust over the incident and assured that the victims would soon be rescued.
He said, “The security agents are making efforts to rescue the district head and the other five persons.”
The state police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar, could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.
