How teenage boy in Abuja died after weeks of prolonged abuse

Story from Hamzat Ibrahim ABAGA

A teenager simply identified as Mustapha has lost his life after he was allegedly brutalised
in Kubwa, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The cause of his death was reportedly attributed to severe injuries he sustained from weeks of prolonged abuse at home.

According to a report by Daily Trust, there was a sense of hesitancy and resistance from the grieving family members, who seemed unwilling to disclose the details surrounding the incident.

However, a resident named Ogunleye Peter, who shed some light on the matter, revealed that Mustapha had been subjected to torture approximately two weeks prior.

“Two weeks ago, Mustapha returned home in the early hours of the morning, bearing deep injuries that covered his entire body. Despite numerous inquiries into what had transpired, he remained tight-lipped,” Peter disclosed.

He further highlighted that Mustapha had been confined to his home, undergoing treatment in the hopes of a speedy recovery. However, on Thursday evening, he began expelling blood from his anus.

“On Friday morning, he was rushed to Kubwa General Hospital, where doctors discovered that his blood level had plummeted to a critical 10%, to save his life, blood transfusions were administered while he relied on oxygen support.

“Tragically, Mustapha complained of excruciating abdominal pain during his hospital stay, and he ultimately succumbed to his injuries later that evening,” Peter sorrowfully recounted.

When the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, was contacted for more information, she promised to provide updates, but is yet to do so as of press time.
