Former sales representative in court over theft of N7.8 million from employer

A 32-year-old former sales representative, Bashiru Olatunji, appeared before a Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday for the alleged theft of N7,809,000 from his employer, Deke Super Store at Ojodu Berger.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge presented before Magistrate E. Kubeinje by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi.

The alleged theft took place between January and November at Kosoko Street, Ojodu Berger, Lagos State.

According to Peoples Gazette, the prosecutor, investigations revealed that the defendant had been stealing money from the company for an extended period before being apprehended and detained by the police.

The court granted the defendant N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum, stipulating that the sureties must be gainfully employed with proof of tax payments and verification, with one being a blood relative.

The trial was adjourned until December 19.
