33 Artillery Brigade in Bauchi emerges winner of inter-brigade competition

The 33 Artillery Brigade Shadawanka Bauchi has emerged as the winner in the 2024 3 Division Inter-Brigade competition for Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers.

The competition, held at the 33 Artillery Brigade Shadawanka Barracks, saw participation from six formations under the 3 Division Nigerian Army.

Announcing the results after four days of intense competition, Chief Umpire Lt. Col. Stephen Ajakaiye declared 33 Artillery Brigade the winners.

The formations competed in various activities, including drill, combat swimming, map reading and navigation, firing, combat run, and obstacle crossing competitions.

The 23 Brigade of Nigerian Army Yola secured second place, followed by 43 Engineering Brigade Jos in third, 6 Brigade Taraba in fourth, 3 Division Garrison Jos in fifth, and 53 Signals Brigade Jos in sixth place.

Awards and trophies were presented to outstanding Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers in both male and female categories.

Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, emphasized the importance of training in the Army and the objective of making officers combat-ready.

Represented by Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Egbe, Brigade Commander of the 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, Abubakar highlighted the competition’s role in fostering camaraderie, leadership traits, organizational ability, and initiative among the ranks.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, represented by Commissioner for Internal Security Alhaji Abdulhamid Bununu, praised the Nigerian Military for their efforts in securing the nation and assured continued support from his administration.

He commended the troops for their outstanding performance and expressed optimism that the competition had prepared the officers for future tasks.
