Suspended Women Leader maintains stance on criticising Kaduna Governor, no regrets
The suspended Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State, Maryam Suleiman, has expressed her lack of regrets regarding her criticisms of Governor Uba Sani.
In a phone interview with News Point Nigeria on Monday, Suleiman shared that her suspension by the party for speaking out against the governor was a part of a higher plan, and she continued to stand resolute.
The Kaduna State APC leadership took action against Suleiman on Sunday, imposing an indefinite suspension due to her criticisms of the state governor’s statements about inheriting a significant debt from his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai.

During a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, Governor Sani had bemoaned the financial situation he inherited, including $587m, N85bn, and 115 contractual liabilities from El-Rufai.
He mentioned the challenges faced in paying workers’ salaries due to the state’s meager financial resources.
In a viral video conducted in Hausa on social media, the APC women leader rebuked the governor for his statements and accused him of mismanagement.
She advised him to take responsibility for his actions instead of blaming his predecessor.
Following her remarks against the governor, the Kaduna APC leadership invoked Article 21, 2 (v) of the APC Constitution and handed Suleiman a suspension on Sunday.
Undaunted by her suspension, the embattled women leader confirmed to our correspondent on Monday that she stood strong in her truth and welcomed any consequence for speaking out.
She added she was only aware of her purported suspension on social media, noting that 24 hours after the announcement, she had yet to be served any letter of suspension from her Nasarawa/Malaki Ward.
“I only read of my suspension on social media. I am yet to receive any suspension letter from our party,”
She said she stood by what she said in the viral video, saying that what the governor did, was a clear case of betrayal.
According to her, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai did everything for Uba to become a senator and later governor, she said in the controversial video.
She also advised the governor against setting himself against El-Rufai, whom she described as “our leader.”
“I have no regrets over my criticism of Governor Sani. I thank God for all that happened.
“I only heard of my suspension on social media. I am yet to be served the suspension letter.
“In any case, I stand by what I said about the governor. I have no regrets at all. I remained unruffled by my actions because I stated the obvious.
“As a senator, Governor Uba Sani is the arrowhead of securing loans by El-Rufai administration. He was deeply involved in that,” she added.
