Tinubu committed to enhancing welfare of Nigerians – Information Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to improving the overall welfare of Nigerians.

Speaking during his appearance on the prime live Phone-In program of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Kaduna, ‘Hannu da Yawa,’ on Saturday, Idris highlighted Tinubu’s dedication to achieving food security in the agricultural sector through targeted measures and programs directly benefiting farmers.

Idris emphasized that under Tinubu’s administration, “there has been a significant shift towards ensuring productive outcomes in dry season farming, with measures implemented to restructure loans and provide interventions for agriculture”.

He noted that this contrasts with past practices where agricultural funds often did not reach the intended beneficiaries.

Responding to concerns about purportedly abandoned projects in Northern regions, Idris asserted that responsible governments avoid abandoning initiatives that have received funding.

He cited examples such as the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline and the Mambilla Power Project, emphasizing that while projects may encounter setbacks, they have not been halted.

Regarding the reinstatement of state Police, Idris emphasized its significance for ensuring economic growth, particularly in sectors like farming. He expressed disappointment with segments of the media that focus on criminal and terrorist activities while overlooking the achievements of security organisations.

“On the removal of fuel subsidies, Idris recalled Tinubu’s implementation of wage allowances and assistance for low-income households to mitigate the impact.”

He also announced Tinubu’s plans to inaugurate conversion centers nationwide for transitioning petrol-powered vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as part of efforts to address the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

Finally, Idris reiterated Tinubu’s commitment to combating corruption and urged the public to disregard false information intended to undermine the government.

He urged patience with Tinubu’s administration, promising the rollout of viable programs and measures to improve people’s lives.
