Police arrest man for killing sugar mummy over money dispute

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, has shared an interrogation video on X formerly (Twitter) revealing the harrowing confession of a suspect connected to the murder of Glory Akpaku in Delta State’s Akpoveta School.

According to the video, the suspect confessed to the gruesome act of killing Akpaku, detailing a rift stemming from a dispute over N100,000 allegedly entrusted to the victim for safekeeping.

The victim, identified as his sugar mummy, reportedly refused to return the money when he requested it, exacerbating tensions between them.

The suspect recounted how he confronted Akpaku to reclaim the money, only to be met with resistance as she insisted on delaying repayment until after a trip to the market. Threats were exchanged, with the suspect warning of revealing their relationship to Akpaku’s son, and the victim retaliating by threatening to withhold the money.

Driven by rage and a sense of betrayal, the suspect admitted to resorting to violence, fatally stabbing Akpaku multiple times with a knife in the neck, hand, and stomach.

Speaking in pidgin English, the suspect expressed remorse for his actions but attributed the heinous act to the influence of the devil, a sentiment echoed by Edafe, who emphasized the importance of learning from such tragedies.

Edafe provided further updates, revealing that the incident occurred in April. He assurred the public that the suspect would face justice pending the completion of the investigation.
