Lagos court remands man for defiling 15-year-old girl
Justice Rahman Oshodi of Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has ordered a man named Onyeka Mbaka to be remanded in the Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre for defiling a 15-year-old girl.
The remand is pending the determination of his bail application and the commencement of his trial.
The case, which involves the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl, will resume on March 22 for trial.
The defendant, whose residential address was not disclosed, was arraigned by the Lagos State Government on charges of defilement.
Despite pleading not guilty, the state counsel, Ms Bukola Okeowo, requested the court to remand the defendant, emphasising the prosecution’s intent to call three witnesses to prove the charges.

The alleged incident took place in March 2023 at No. 16, Moshalasi Street, Ilasa area, Lagos, and is said to contravene Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The decision to remand the suspect underscores ongoing efforts to address and prosecute offenses related to sexual violence, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals in the community.
