Police in Abuja disperse protesters with tear gas

The MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja saw heightened tension today as police fired tear gas at protesters in an attempt to disperse the crowd. The stadium had been designated as the official venue for the ongoing protests in the nation’s capital.

Despite the reduced number of demonstrators compared to previous days, the protesters gathered at the facility to continue pressing their demands. After several hours, police officers deployed tear gas canisters to break up the assembly.

This follows a court order that restricted the #EndBadGovernance protesters from using other locations in Abuja. Similar incidents occurred on Friday when police fired tear gas at protesters gathered at the Berger roundabout area of the Federal Capital Territory.

Protests are also taking place in other parts of the country, including Lagos, Benin City in Edo State, and Port Harcourt in Rivers State, although the number of demonstrators has decreased.
