ICYMI: Innoson founder meets Tinubu, promises to supply CNG buses soon
In a significant development for Nigeria’s transportation sector, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd., has announced plans to introduce Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to the Nigerian market.
This announcement follows a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Thursday.
Chukwuma revealed that the new CNG buses will soon be available to the public, promising a more cost-effective and eco-friendly transportation option.
He emphasized the benefits of CNG, highlighting its potential to reduce transportation costs and reliance on imported fuels.
“The government’s initiative on CNG is the best idea for transportation in this country,” Chukwuma stated.
He further explained that he had anticipated the need for such an initiative and had already started producing CNG vehicles and kits prior to the government’s announcement.
This development aligns with President Tinubu’s recent nationwide broadcast, where he outlined the Compressed Natural Gas Initiative.

Tinubu described the initiative as a crucial step towards leveraging Nigeria’s abundant gas resources, which have been underutilized in the country’s transportation sector.
He projected that the initiative could save the country N2 trillion monthly by reducing the reliance on imported petrol and diesel.
Chukwuma’s promise to supply CNG buses comes as part of a broader effort to support this initiative, which aims to distribute a million CNG kits at minimal or no cost to commercial vehicles.
