Harris vows to back middle class, says Trump dragging US backward

At the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Vice President Kamala Harris made a strong case for her presidency, promising to unite the nation and advocate for the middle class.

She sharply criticised Republican rival Donald Trump, accusing him of attempting to drag the country backwards.

Harris, the Democratic nominee, asserted that her presidency would focus on reducing gun violence, reforming immigration, and improving economic conditions for working Americans.

“I will be a president who unites us around our highest aspirations, leads with common sense, and fights for the American people,” she declared to enthusiastic supporters.

The vice president highlighted her commitment to creating jobs, growing the economy, and lowering everyday costs such as healthcare, housing, and groceries.

She emphasised her goal to build a strong middle class, regardless of whether people live in rural areas, small towns, or big cities.

In contrast, Harris denounced Trump’s domestic policies, alleging that he prioritises the interests of billionaires over the middle class.

She also criticised Trump’s support for the “Project 2025,” which she described as a regressive plan aiming to revert the country to outdated policies.
