Police arrest son for allegedly setting mother, school proprietress, ablaze

In a horrifying incident that has left the community of Sapele in Delta State in shock, the police have arrested Emmanuel Umukoro for allegedly setting his mother, Mrs. Fatima Umukoro, ablaze. Mrs. Umukoro, the proprietress of His Majesty Group of Schools, was reportedly murdered late Saturday by her own son.

According to eyewitnesses, Emmanuel was seen driving his mother’s car at high speed around 8:30 pm, which drew attention from neighbours. When they went to check on Mrs. Umukoro, they found the gate to her residence open at around 10 pm, which they said was unusual. Upon entering the house, they discovered a fire inside and Mrs. Umukoro’s lifeless body, burnt beyond recognition.

Neighbours and those who knew Mrs. Umukoro described the event as tragic and horrifying, expressing their disbelief at such a gruesome act.
