EFCC Clarifies: Yahaya Bello not in custody, still wanted
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refuted claims that Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, is currently in their custody.
This clarification comes in light of remarks made by Ohiare Michael, the Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, who stated that Bello had complied with an invitation from the anti-graft agency on Wednesday.
According to the release, the former governor was accompanied to the EFCC Headquarters by several influential individuals.

However, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale issued a statement confirming that Bello is still considered wanted and has an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
“Media reports today that a former Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Yahaya Bello is in the holding facility of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is incorrect. The Commission wishes to state that Bello is not in its custody.
“Bello, already declared wanted by the Commission for alleged N80.2 billion money laundering charges, remains wanted with a subsisting warrant for his arrest,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
