UK bans Naomi as charity trustee for misusing funds on luxury spa treatments

British supermodel Naomi Campbell has been banned from serving as a charity trustee in the United Kingdom for five years, following a three-year investigation that uncovered misuse of charity funds.

The UK Charity Commission, which oversees charities in England and Wales, revealed that the funds intended for charitable purposes were instead spent on luxurious personal expenses, including spa treatments and stays at expensive hotels.

The investigation found that between 2016 and 2022, only 8.5% of the charity’s total expenditure was used for charitable grants. The majority of the funds went towards Campbell’s lavish lifestyle, covering costs such as high-end hotel stays, spa visits, and even cigarettes.

In a statement, the UK Charity Commission disclosed that Campbell had violated the trust placed in her charity. “This conduct is unacceptable for someone managing a charitable organization.

The public expects transparency and accountability, especially when donations are involved,” the commission stated.

Campbell, who has long been an advocate for various causes, responded to the findings with concern. In an interview with the Associated Press (AP), she said, “I have just found out about the findings today. And I am extremely concerned. I wasn’t in control of my charity, I put the control in the hands of a legal employer.”
