Gunshots as bandits disrupt Juma’at prayers in Katsina community

Armed bandits, wielding dangerous weapons, invaded Dan-Ali, a community in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, during Friday prayers, disrupting worship at several mosques.

According to reports on Friday, the attackers stormed the community around the time of the Juma’at prayers, firing their guns indiscriminately. This created widespread panic, and worshippers were forced to flee for their safety.

A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed the incident. “We were in the middle of Juma’at prayers when we suddenly heard gunshots.

Everyone immediately ran, and the prayers couldn’t continue. Fortunately, the Security Watch Corps in the area responded quickly, chasing after the bandits,” he stated.

The source also mentioned that the situation in the area has been tense for the past week, with the bandits repeatedly attacking and preventing farmers from accessing their farmlands.

As of the time of this report, efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, for comments have been unsuccessful.

The local authorities are said to be investigating the incident and exploring options for reinforcing security in the troubled region.
