Security operatives neutralise three bandits, recover AK-47 rifles in Gombe border areas

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have killed three suspected bandits and recovered AK-47 rifles during a security operation in border communities of Gombe State.

According to the Gombe State Police Command, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the movement of armed bandits terrorising communities along the state’s border with neighbouring states. The suspects were intercepted by police operatives during a patrol and engaged in a gun battle.

The police said the bandits were neutralised after they opened fire on security personnel, forcing officers to respond with superior firepower. Two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and other incriminating items were recovered from the suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to rid border communities of criminal elements and restore lasting peace in the area. He added that no casualties were recorded among police personnel.

Residents of the affected communities commended the swift response of the police, noting that the bandits had been responsible for a series of attacks, kidnappings, and cattle rustling in the area.

The police command assured members of the public that patrols and intelligence-driven operations would be sustained, urging residents to continue providing useful information to security agencies to help combat crime across the state.
