Hisbah declares Commissioner wanted over alleged adultery

Suspended Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, has beeen declared wanted by Hisbah Corps.

The Kano State Hisbah Corps issued the declaration for allegedly failing to respond to its invitation regarding claims of an affair with a married woman.

Sankara has denied the allegations and threatened to sue the Hisbah Corps.

Speaking to journalists on Monday evening, Commander-General of the Kano Hisbah Corps, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, stated that the commission had been waiting for the suspended commissioner for hours but he did not show up, prompting Hisbah to declare him wanted.

He noted that although Sankara was released on administrative bail, he had instructed his men to remain on the lookout for him.

“The work of Hisbah is reconciliation and if reconciliation fails, then we take them to the court and in this case, Nasiru Bulama is accusing him of having an affair with his wife and we asked them to come for reconciliation meeting but he is still not here,” Daurawa said.

Bulama stated that Sankara is currently seeking a restraining order from a High Court to prevent Hisbah from arresting him.

The aggrieved husband has appealed to the Kano State government and the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, to intervene and ensure justice is served.

Sankara’s troubles began when reports of his alleged affair with Tasleem Baba Nabegu, a married woman with two children, surfaced on Friday.

Providing an update, Abba Sufi, a senior Hisbah official, confirmed, “Yes, it is true we have arrested Auwal Danladi Sankara, a Jigawa Commissioner, with a married woman in an uncompleted building that belongs to him.

“Unknown to him, we were tracking him based on the reports we received against him.”

“Nasiru Bulama filed the complaint with the Kano State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board, alleging Sankara’s involvement in illicit sexual activities with his wife. We have been having problems with Sankara because he is operating illicit drugs Centers in the names of hotels with prostitution and drug addiction activities.”
