Football hooligan leader shot dead in Argentina

In a shocking incident that has rocked the world of Argentine football, the leader of a notorious football hooligan gang, Andrés Bracamonte, known as “Pillín,” was shot dead near Rosario Central’s stadium in Rosario, Argentina.

The killing took place just four blocks from the Gigante de Arroyito stadium shortly after a league match on Saturday. Although Bracamonte did not attend the match due to a ban, his presence nearby marked a fatal encounter.

The 52-year-old Bracamonte, who headed Rosario Central’s supporters’ gang for over 20 years, was well-known for his violent clashes with rival hooligans and a controversial past. His deputy, Daniel “Rana” Atardo, was also targeted in the attack.

Both men were ambushed and gunned down by a motorcyclist. Despite efforts to save them at the local Centenario Hospital, their lives could not be saved.

The incident, widely covered by Argentine media, is believed to be a settling of scores. Bracamonte’s criminal history, including allegations of money laundering, extortion, and ties to the Los Monos drug cartel, had made him a target over the years.

Reports note that he had survived previous assassination attempts, including an attack as recently as August when a bullet grazed his back while he was with his partner, who was also injured.
