Residents rescue newborn abandoned in Niger

Residents in Minna, the capital of Niger State, are seeking assistance after finding an abandoned baby in the New Market area.

According to reports from newsmen, the baby girl was discovered early on Monday, November 11, 2024, around 1:00 am, when the sound of her cries caught the attention of residents. Upon investigating, they found the infant abandoned at the back of a house.

Maryam Abdullah, one of the residents, shared that a nurse was promptly called to examine the baby, and it was confirmed that she is in good health. Abdullah added, “We are now looking to contact the appropriate authorities to take custody of the baby.”

The community is now calling for the intervention of local authorities to ensure the baby’s safety and proper care.
