NGF meets to discuss excess crude, key national issues

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) holds a meeting in Abuja to discuss key national issues.

This marks the Forum’s 11th physical session this year.

Among the primary topics on the agenda are the reconciliation of the Excess Crude Account (ECA), petroleum profit taxes (PPT), and royalties.

The meeting, chaired by NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, commenced at 8:30 PM on Wednesday and is focused on addressing significant fiscal and developmental challenges.

Discussions include updates on stamp duty remittances, findings from Deloitte’s audit, and arrangements related to debt net-offs connected to the ECA and other federal revenue accounts.

Governors will also receive a briefing on Nigeria’s involvement in the 2024 Africa Investment Forum (AIF) Market Days, set to take place in Morocco, which aims to enhance investment opportunities and collaboration across Africa.

Additionally, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, will speak to the governors about the ongoing constitutional amendments being facilitated by the National Assembly, while Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, will outline plans for the education sector.
