14 people perish as bus plunges into Jigawa River

A devastating auto crash in Jigawa State has claimed the lives of 14 passengers, leaving bodies scattered at the accident scene.

The tragic incident occurred when a commercial bus with registration number GML 842 XA plunged into a river while crossing the collapsed Tage Bridge.

The bus was en route from Hadejia town to Makera village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area when the accident happened.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, DSP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, stated:

“A doctor confirmed the death of eight women, two men, and four young men at the scene. The driver miraculously survived and is assisting police with investigations.”

DSP Adam revealed that the driver, the sole survivor of the accident, failed to stop the vehicle in time due to the bridge’s deteriorated state.

Authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash, urging the public to provide any information that could aid in uncovering further details about the tragedy.
