German President visits Tinubu at State House

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived at the State House on Wednesday for a visit to President Bola Tinubu, following his arrival in Nigeria on Tuesday.

Upon his arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Tuesday, Steinmeier was warmly received by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Steinmeier’s visit, which is set to last until December 12, 2024, includes several key engagements, such as meetings with President Tinubu and the President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, Alieu Omar Touray, among others.

On Wednesday, after being received by President Tinubu, Steinmeier inspected the Guard of Honour. Following his stay in Abuja, he will travel to Lagos, where he is scheduled to meet with business leaders, visit a start-up hub, and engage with Nigeria’s cultural and civil society sectors, including Dr. Nike Okundaye and Professor Wole Soyinka.

The trip will also offer Steinmeier the chance to explore Lagos, gaining insights into the urban development of the megacity, along with its environmental and social challenges.
