Nollywood actress, Nkechi Nweje dies after brief illness

Popular Nollywood actress Nkechi Nweje has passed away, leaving many in shock and mourning.

Reports indicate that she died on Friday morning, though the exact cause of her death has not been confirmed.

A source close to the actress revealed that she had been battling an illness for some time. Sadly, just as she was beginning to recover, she passed away unexpectedly.

Following the news of her death, tributes have been pouring in from colleagues and fans.

Veteran actress Rita Edochie took to Instagram on Friday to express her grief, posting a candlelight image against a dark background with the caption, “This world is really not our home.”

Another Nollywood star, Asa Ikuku, shared an emotional message, saying, “Rest in peace mummy Nkwechi Nweje TV (Nwanyi Onisha). You are indeed a blessing to us. But God knows the best. We will miss you so much, great Nollywood actress. Rest on, legend.”

Expressing deep sorrow, Buchi Dortmund wrote, “Today, my heart is heavy with sorrow as I say goodbye to my dear sister. Words cannot capture the depth of this pain, nor can they fully express the love I have for her. Rest in peace, Ezigbo Mrs Nkechi Nweje.”

Nkechi Nweje’s passing has left a significant void in Nollywood, with many remembering her contributions to the industry and the legacy she leaves behind.
