Police rescue abducted traditional ruler from Nasarawa mountains

Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have rescued abducted Shangarin Dari, Emmanuel Omanji, the traditional ruler of Dari community in Kokona local government area of the state.

The traditional ruler was abducted from his home in Dari by gunmen who invaded his community in the wee hours of 28th May, 2025.

On Tuesday, the State Police Command said that the monarch has been rescued unhurt on June 2nd from the Panwasa Mountains in Nassarawa Eggon local government area of the state.

“The Nasarawa State Police Command is pleased to report that the Sangarin Dari, who was abducted on 28th May 2025, was successfully rescued unhurt at approximately 2100hrs on 2nd June 2025.

“The rescue operation took place in the Panwasa Mountains, Mada Station, following sustained pressure from the Command’s Search and Rescue Team,” the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel confirmed in a statement.

Nansel said the victim was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation immediately after the rescue and has since been reunited with his family.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects involved in the abduction,” he stated.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, extends his heartfelt appreciation to members of the public for their invaluable support and timely information, which greatly assisted in the rescue operation.

“He also commends the efforts and collaboration of other security agencies and local vigilante groups whose support was instrumental to the success of this mission,” he added.
