WAEC shuts down result checker portal due to ‘technical issues’

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily closed its result checker portal, citing “technical issues.”

This shutdown occurred on Wednesday evening, just two days after the release of the 2025 May/June WASSCE results.

In a brief notice, WAEC explained that the disruption was caused by “system-related challenges” and assured the public that its technical team is working to restore access within 24 hours.

The portal’s closure follows the release of results that showed a significant decline in performance among candidates.

Only 38% of students secured the minimum requirement for tertiary admission, which is five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
