COVID-19: NIS suspends passport, migrant e-registration services

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the suspension of passport processing and immigrant e-registration due to the current realities of coronavirus in the country.

NIS announced this on Tuesday on its official twitter account @nigimmigration, where it said the service would commence operation by 23 April 2020.

“Temporary suspension of processing of passport and migrant e-registration by the Nigerian Immigration Service,” the statement read.

The move was part of the body’s effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus which had already affected 42 persons in the country.
