    ASUU applauds fresh agreement with FG, says members can ‘sleep with peace of mind’

    The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has welcomed a new agreement reached with the Federal Government, describing it as a major relief for lecturers and a step toward stability in Nigeria’s university system.

    ASUU officials said the pact addresses long-standing concerns over welfare, funding, and working conditions, adding that the development has restored confidence among academic staff nationwide.

    Speaking on the agreement, the union noted that the resolution of key contentious issues would allow lecturers to focus on teaching, research, and mentoring students without constant anxiety over unresolved disputes.

    The union described the deal as the outcome of sustained dialogue and engagement with the Federal Government, stressing that adherence to the terms of the agreement would be crucial to preventing future industrial actions.
