The number of COVID-19 cases in Yobe State has risen to four in less than 48 hours after the Nigeria Central for Disease Contol (NCDC) released the list of three new cases Friday night.

Yobe State recorded her first case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Wednesday, 28 April after a 29-year-old banker working with one of the new generation banks in Damaturu tested positive.

The NCDC on Friday night released a fresh list of 238 cases out of which Yobe has three. The addition brings the number of cases to four in the state.

It is not clear if the three new cases are linked to the index case.

The Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr Mohammed Lawan Gana, who is also the Vice-Chairman of COVID-19 committee in the state could not be reached for details.

A press briefing is however expected later in the day where a new approach(es) may be adopted in the state to stem the spread of the virus.
