Yobe lawmakers deliberate N13bn supplementary budget

The chairman, House Committe on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Bukar Mustapha disclosed this in an interview with Nuptune Prime shortly after the second reading of the executive order on the floor of the House yesterday.

He said the Executive brought the supplementary budget to the House last week and the Committee met to map out ways and means of carrying out its assignment effectively.

According to him, the Committe invited all the relevant stakeholders and MDAs that are affected by the supplementary allocations to come and rub minds with Committe, adding that the MDAs were ministries of Finance, Budget, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Works and Transport, Health, Education and state university.

Hon. Bukar Mustapha, a member representing Gaidam central constituency also revealed that the 2017 supplementary budget was predicated on the fact that the state government is expecting to generate surplus resources from the various codes in the 2017 Budget which was not appropriated by the House to enable the government utilize the surplus funds for the betterment of the citizenry.

“The surplus funds generated in the 2017 fiscal year allocated in five key priority sectors of the state’s economy which are Agriculture and Natural Resources, Works and Transport, Finance, Education, and Health as it clearly shows that the government has the interest of the people at heart,” he said.
