Sweet Potato producers and sellers will very soon get a huge patronage from Kebbi State Government. This was disclosed in a Press Statement by Muazu Dakingari, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu.
The governor affirmed this while appreciating the sacrifice and entrepreneurship of young girls selling potatoes along Kalgo-Bunza road in the state capital.
To redeem his pledge the governor announced that the government would include sweet potatoes on students food menu; the governor therefore mandated the ministry of education to direct all food contractors and principals in the state to include potatoes in feeding timetable instead of cassava.
Governor Bagudu explained that the action was part of his plan to purchase all potatoes produced by farmers to avoid perish and loss to cultivators.
He directed immediate purchase of all potatoes displayed on the roads and also provided financial assistance to hawking girls.
One of the beneficiaries, Suwaiba Sabongari thanked the governor for the gesture on behalf of the other hawkers.
