Varsity students of Agriculture, Benue kidnapped on campus

Many students of the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi, Benue State have been allegedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

This was disclosed via Twitter by a user, Uncle Werner @sezzz_g, who happens to be a student of the University.

He lamented that the incident has not been talked about even by the Vice-Chancellor of the University nor any radio or media outlets.

Uncle Werner @sezzz_g wrote: “Students were abducted from my school yesterday (Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi, Benue State). It’s been 24hrs and I don’t know why the Radio and TV stations are making it a secret. No word from the VC either, everyone is just keeping mute. Relatives deserve to know.”

Neptune Prime contacted a former student of Benue State University, Godwin, who also spoke to a student of UAM and confirmed that a number of students were kidnapped at gunpoint from the Engineering complex of the University on Saturday 25, April 2021.

Godwin said, “a student told me that some students were kidnapped at gunpoint from the Engineering complex on Saturday night, that’s all I can say”.

He gave instances of kidnappings in the country saying that “The insecurity situation in Nigeria is becoming alarming.”

The University’s Director of Information, Protocol and Public Relations Unit (IPPR), Mrs Rosemary Waku has confirmed the incident Monday morning.

The Benue State Public Relations Officer, DSP Anene Sewuese Catherine also confirmed the incident to newsmen and promised to issue a statement later.
