Basic Healthcare Provision Fund: Kogi begins training of 1080 health officers

Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KSPHCDA) has commenced training of Health Officers for the implementation of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund in the state.
The Six Days training which is the State Training of Trainers (STOT) for Basic Healthcare Provision Fund has participants drown from the State Ministry of Health (MOH), Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KSPHCDA), Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KSHIA), National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and Development Partners.
Declaring the training opened, the State Commissioner of Health Dr. Saka Haruna called on the participants to pay adequate attention to the training as the success of the program would depend on how the knowledge and skills acquired are translated in the implementation of the program in the state.

The commissioner who was represented by the Ag. Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Mrs. Dianarose Offor said the State Government is fully committed to the health of the people and would do everything humanly possible to ensure the successful implementation of the program in the state so as to ensure that everyone especially the vulnerable in the society have access to quality healthcare services.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Aledare Adekunle thanked the State Governor, Alhaji. Yahaya Bello for his commitment to the implementation of the program in the state; saying that the training would go a long way in determining the success of the program.
In his responds, one of the facilitators of the program, Mr. Stephen Ameh of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) said the participants at the end of the training should be able to acquire the necessary skills that would enable them to cascade the training at the Local Government and Wards Levels.
Equally speaking, the Chairman of the Primary Health Care Forum in the state, Comrade Yusuf Hojapa thanked the state government for organizing the training which he said would equipt the health officials of the needed information to successfully execute the program.
Highlighting the aims of the training, the state focal person of the State Basic Healthcare Provision Fund Dr. Bola Emmanuel said the training is to build the capacity of the participants who would Cascade the training at the Local Government Level, adding that it would help in achieving the Universal Health Coverage in the state.
According to him, the funds pulled by the Federal Government would help in providing quality healthcare services for the vulnerable in all the nock and crannies of the state.
Over one thousand eighty (1080) health personnels would be trained across the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi state to enable the successful implementation of the program.
