NEMA donates relief materials to farmers affected by flood in Kogi

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has donated relief materials to farmers affected by the 2020 floods in Kogi State.

The State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, while receiving the delegation from NEMA at the Government House, Lokoja, commended the Agency for its consistent support to cushion the effects of flooding that happened in 2020 in Kogi State.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, the governor said the relief materials will provide succour to over 3,000 farmers in 9 Local Government Areas of the state.

While assuring that the items will be distributed to the real beneficiaries, Gov. Bello expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for his concern to resolve flood disasters in the country.

Earlier, the leader of the NEMA team, Alhaji Labaran Suman said they were in the state to provide relief items to farmers affected by the floods.

He sympathised with the government and people of the State over the flood challenge, noting that 8000 farmers have been enumerated to benefit from the relief materials.

Officials of Kogi State Emergency Management Agency SEMA were also present at the visit.
