A global human rights platform, “people’s truth and restoration commission”, comes on stream, by Ayuba Ahmad
A nongovernmental organisation, People’s Truth and Restoration Commission, PTRC, which aims to provide a platform for the promotion of truth, restorative justice and solidarity in developing countries is due for launch in Durban, South Africa on the 6th of December, 2025.
In a statement obtained by Neptune Prime in Abuja, highlights of the event include the formal introduction and unveiling the concept of the People’s Truth and Restoration Commission, art exhibition, poetry/spoken work and, an overview of war therapy programme.
The statement explained that though, based partly on the contentious, now defunct South African government’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the PTRC is fundamentally different because, it is a nongovernmental and a people-led initiative with a global context in the scope of its activities and membership.

The statement further explained that the platform is an “independent and pioneering initiative driven by citizens, lawyers, health workers, Journalists and leaders” adding that, it was founded on the”principles of human rights and seeks to document truth, advocate for restorative justice and strengthen solidarity.”
According to the statement , the PTRC is built on the philosophical praxis that: “Truth and justice are the pillars of meaningful transformation” which “honour the victims and build the foundation for genuine healing. Without truth, justice cannot breathe and without justice, peace cannot last.”
Calling on all peoples of conscience, especially from the global South to join the platform, the statement said the December 6th Durban inaugural meeting will focus on the Palestinian, Sudanese and the Congolese people
