Abducted family members of Bauchi ex-Governor Mu’azu regain freedom

Story from Ahmad SAKA, Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that the kidnappers of three family members of the former Bauchi State Governor, Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu, have freed their victims.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, told reporters in Bauchi Tuesday that they were all released and have been taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

The victims, Hajiya Asma’u Alhaji Adamu, the younger sister to the former governor, Malama Halima Abdullahi, and one Nura, were kidnapped two weeks ago when bandits attacked the resident of the former Bauchi Governor and killed his nephew, Mua’zu Danladi, a 25-year-old man.

Appreciating God for His intervention, relatives of the former Governor who wished not to disclose their names said that after 14 agonising and traumatic days in captivity, the Almighty Allah, who is the way maker, miracle worker and light in the darkness finally answered their numerous prayers and granted the victims freedom from their captors.

Although it could not be ascertained how much ransoms were paid, the relatives confirmed that the victims were released following a negotiation with the bandits.
