Abducted Nollywood actors regain freedom

Nollywood actors, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, abducted in Enugu State last week, have regained freedom.

This was confirmed by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) in a release shared by Monalisa Chinda Coker, the Guild’s Director of Communication.

Mrs Coker informed the public that the abductors were “touched by the spirit of God” to set the actors free.

The statement reads in part, “This is to inform the public that the kidnapped actors, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, have been released, unhurt. The elated National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ejezie Rollas, announced their release by the abductors who were touched by the spirit of God to set them free and unharmed.

“The guild has arranged for medical checks and psychological support for the victims.

“On behalf of their families, the National President expresses heartfelt appreciation to the Nollywood industry and Nigerians at large for the support and prayers during this trying period.

“He urged members to be security conscious on and off movie sets and always take precautionary measures on their security at all times.”

Okereke and Cornel were declared missing last week Friday after working on a movie set.

Their abductors afterwards reached out and demanded a ransom of $100,000, which the Guild’s National President, Ejezie Rollas, stated could not be raised.

Rollas had also disclosed that the kidnappers cleared out the account of actress Cynthia Okereke after the abduction.
